ABS Group of Companies, Inc. concluded its acquisition of Safetec Nordic AS, with a signing ceremony attended by senior ABS, ABS Group and Safetec management in Trondheim, Norway, on January 5, 2012.

2016 Gas Processing Americas

Steve Arendt, ABS Group Vice President of Global Oil, Gas and Chemical, will be speaking at the 2016 Gas Processing (GasPro) Americas conference.  Arendt’s presentation, “Major CAPEX Project Success Assurance: Best Practices and Lessons Learned,” is scheduled for September 13 as part of a session on Best Practices in Operations and HSE/Water. GasPro will focus on gas supply, procurement, purchasing, transportation, trading, distribution, operations, safety, the environment, regulatory affairs, technology development, business analysis, LNG, and more. 

Pipeline Week 2016

Steve Arendt, ABS Group Vice President for Global Oil, Gas and Chemicals, Kelly Gleason, Director for Pipeline/Midstream, Smarty Mathew John, Senior Engineer for Offshore & Subsea Risk & Reliability Applications and David Whittle, Senior Director for Reliability Services will be speaking at Pipeline Week 2016. They will present their paper on “Best Practices for Implementing a Pipeline Safety Management System” and cover the API RP1173 PSMS framework that is intended to enhance risk management and provide an opportunity for continual improvement of pipeline safety performance. The presentation will also discuss best practices for implementation based on experience gained from safety management system implementation in the midstream segment and program audits in other process industry sectors. ABS Group will also exhibit at the event. 

ESREL Conference

Smarty John, Senior Engineer for Offshore & Subsea Risk & Reliability Applications and James Alexander, Principal Engineer for Safety, Risk and Compliance will be speaking at the 2016 European Safety and Reliability (ESREL) Conference. In a paper on "Improving BOP Reliability and Availability Through RAM Analysis and Expanded FMEA Scope" they will discuss a holistic approach to BOP systems that can help achieve operational continuity and availability goals. 

Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Symposium

Steve Arendt, ABS Group Vice President for Global Oil, Gas and Chemicals, will be speaking on "Lessons Learned from Recent U.S. Onshore and Offshore Accident Investigations." Arendt has more than 35 years of experience in process safety and risk management has performed hundreds of process safety/HSE analyses, risk assessments, audits and accident investigations on a variety of global oil, gas, chemical and related industry processes. ABS Group will also exhibit at the event.  

IADC Critical Issues Middle East

Smarty John, Senior Engineer for Offshore and Subsea Risk and Reliability Applications, Alistair Moat, Consulting Services Manager for the Middle East and Andrew Quillian, Principal Engineer for Quantitative Risk Analysis will be speaking at the IADC Critical Issues Middle East Conference and Exhibition. Their paper, titled "Validating Managed Pressure Drilling System Integrity Through Risk Assessments and Barrier Analysis" will cover a systematic risk assessment approach for validating MPD system integrity at multiple levels. Best practices, lessons learned and an introduction to an approach on barrier analysis will also be discussed.
