João Carlos Pacheco Appointed General Manager of ABS Group Services Do Brasil
(Houston) Effective July 2, 2012, João Carlos Pacheco will be taking over as the General Manager of ABS Group Services do Brasil. He will report to Henrique Paula, Senior Vice President for the Global Process Market Sector. In his new role, Mr. Pacheco (or Carlos) will be responsible for all ABS Consulting activities in Brazil.
Mr. Pacheco (Carlos) joined ABS in 1979 working as an engineer in the Rio de Janeiro office, Machinery department. In 1989 he transferred to Madrid as a Senior Engineer, and from 1991 to 1994, he worked in the ABS Americas headquarters in Houston as Principal Engineer and Project Manager. During this period, Pacheco was a member of the ABS Americas Quality Steering Committee, the group who led the implementation of the ABS Quality Management System. As ABS Americas Quality Coordinator, Pacheco helped ABS implement the quality system and obtain its first certification in 1993. Pacheco returned to Rio de Janeiro in July 1994 as the Engineering Manager for South America and was promoted to Brazil Country Manager in 1996. He has been acting as Director of Business Development for South America since January 2012.
Pacheco is a Mechanical and Industrial Engineer (Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro) with a Master of Business degree in administration (MBA) and petroleum (MBP) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is a member of the Consultative Council of the SOBENA (Brazilian Society of Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture).
