Henrique Paula

Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives

With 40 years of engineering experience, Henrique Paula, Ph.D., has extensive competences in enterprise risk management (ERM), integrity, and safety management, including quantitative risk assessment (QRA), consequence assessment, data analysis and analytics, root cause analysis/incident investigation, process safety management (PSM), reliability, mechanical integrity, and asset integrity programs (operations, maintenance, and inspection). Dr. Paula has instructed for the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and has served as guest editor of a special issue of the journal Reliability Engineering and System Safety.

Dr. Paula's executive role started in 1999 with responsibility for ABS Group's business in South America. In 2003, his responsibility shifted to International Risk Consulting, based in Houston, followed by 4 years overseas in Singapore and Dubai, and 3 years leading the company's process (mostly oil and gas) sector, with a consulting organization over 1,000 people strong. He also served as Senior Executive in several affiliated companies: President of ABSG Consulting de Venezuela, Director of ABS Consulting (M) SND BHD, Malaysia, Director of ABS Consulting (S) PTE LTD, Singapore, Director of ABS Industrial Inspection Services Nigeria Limited, Chairman of the Board of ABS-CCS Risk Management Consulting Ltd., China, President Commissioner of PT Indonesian Group of Companies, and Board Member of Shanghai ABS Technical Inspection Co. Ltd.

A certified reliability analyst, Dr. Paula has provided consulting and training services in over 30 countries. He received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, with course work and dissertation in the area of risk assessment.
