Learn techniques for qualitatively identifying and assessing the hazards associated with process systems. Learn to choose the most appropriate technique for a given problem. Your organization can use these methods to conduct the rigorous hazard identification, hazard analyses, and accident analyses that are required for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) compliance with the Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA) regulation for nuclear fuel cycle facilities (10 CFR Part 70). This course focuses on the hazard and accident analysis techniques (What-if, HAZOP, FMEA, Event Tree, Fault Tree, and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) that are used to address the NRC ISA regulations as well as the Department of Energy and other government regulations (ie, OSHA and EPA Process Safety Management).

Who Should Attend this course?
  • Those who perform hazard and accident analyses to comply with NRC regulations
  • Use what you have learned in the course to help select and apply the most appropriate hazard evaluation technique in a given situation
  • Learn from studies using the what-if checklist, FMEA, HAZOP, fault tree, event tree, and LOPA techniques
  • Gain a basic understanding of hazard evaluations, and apply to address NRC and other government regulations
  • 2.6 CEUs, 2.6 COCs, 4.34 CMs, ABIH approval #10-227
Duration: 3.5 days
