Leading Technical and Risk Management Advisor
Learn more about the breadth of our technical advisory and certification services to support the safety and reliability of high-performance assets and operations in the Oil, Gas and Chemical, Power, Marine, Offshore and Government sectors, among others.
ABS Group is a subsidiary of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), one of the world's leading marine and offshore classification societies founded in 1862.
The mission of ABS Group of Companies is to be a leading global provider of technical services that better enable our clients to operate safely, reliably, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards. We are focused on adding value to the industries we serve and strategically capturing synergies with ABS.
Safety drives us. We are global innovators turning tools and practices into practical solutions to support the industries we serve.
In 2012, we expanded service offerings and geographic coverage in key markets with the strategic acquisition of Genesis Technology Solutions, Inc. (GenesisSolutions), based in Ridgefield, Connecticut. GenesisSolutions brought robust capabilities in enterprise asset management, computerized maintenance management systems and asset performance optimization.
Offshore Safety and Risk Services
As we continued to expand safety and risk management solutions in the offshore market, ABS Quality Evaluations (ABS QE), another of our core businesses, became the first audit provider accredited by the Center for Offshore Safety to conduct safety and environmental systems (SEMS) audits for assets operating in the Gulf of Mexico.
Integrated Power and Energy Solutions
To address the needs of integrated power customers, we combined our successful nuclear and renewable energy divisions and added talent to serve the broader power generation, transmission and distribution markets. In 2013, the Power division of ABS Group completed a Level 2 probabilistic risk assessment – the second such study performed worldwide – for a European nuclear power plant. Our reliable contribution to nuclear legacy plants and utilities have included providing post-Fukushima stress test analyses, seismic support and electrical control and instrumentation support.
Trusted Regulatory Expertise
During the last 20 years, our core capabilities in the Government sector have expanded to include maritime, homeland security, offshore and risk management. We have provided multiyear support to the U.S. Coast Guard Research and Development Center and Surface Forces Logistics Center and supported the Department of Homeland Security's implementation of the Chemical Facility Antiterrorism Standards program. We also assist the following organizations:
- Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE)
- Transportation Security Administration
- Federal Emergency Management Agency
- Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Emergency Management
Today, we provide a range of oil and gas support services for BSEE, as well as municipal water authorities, and continue to work with various international ministries and regulatory bodies through our operating subsidiaries in the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
Since its creation in 1947, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has published nearly 20,000 standards covering most aspects of technology and business, which are designed to make industries more effective and efficient. ABS QE has offered management systems certification services since 1991 and over the years has reached major certification milestones such as becoming an accredited audit provider for ISO 50001 and SEMS in 2013. Building on these achievements, ABS QE recently became the first global Certification Body to receive ANAB ISO 55001 accreditation from the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
World-Class Service Delivery
As we adapt to new operating landscapes, ABS Group remains committed to the needs of industry. Our reputation for technical expertise and industry-leading solutions is our foundation as we continue to help you improve efficiency and reliability, manage risk and integrity and, above all, meet the requisite level of safety in the markets we serve.
