Understanding Cyber Security Through the Lens of USCG NVIC 01-20

April 15, 2020 | 2:00 - 3:00 pm CDT

Understanding Cyber Security Under the Lens of the New USCG NVIC 01-20

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has issued the Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular (NVIC) 01-20 announcing the agency's position on cybersecurity and cyber risk management controls for maritime facilities regulated under the 33 CFR 105 code of federal regulations – Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) regulated facilities.

ABS Group has a longstanding relationship working closely with USCG to support safety and risk management in the maritime industry. Our Cybersecurity team developed the first training course for facility security officers outlining the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework in accordance with USCG recommendations. In this webinar, Captain Dave Nichols (USCG, ret.) and Cybersecurity Assessor Brian Shajari discuss how to navigate NVIC 01-20 and conform to the standards and guidance set forth in this new Circular.

What We Cover:

  • Overview of NVIC 01-20 and the steps MTSA-regulated facilities need to take for effective implementation of cybersecurity programs following USCG guidance
  • How to integrate cybersecurity into your Facility Security Assessment (FSA) and Facility Security Plan (FSP)
