Headquartered in Houston, Texas, ABS Group is an independent engineering firm providing comprehensive technical and certification services, together with technology based solutions, to help organizations manage risk. For more than 40 years, we have assisted industrial and government clients in the Americas with improving business performance, mitigating operational and security risks, addressing safety and environmental concerns, enhancing project quality, and minimizing both man-made and natural hazards across their assets and operations.
A Trusted Technical Advisor in the Americas
Since 1971, ABS Group has provided technical services as a strategic partner of our parent company, the American Bureau of Shipping, one of the world's leading marine and offshore classification societies contributing to safety for more than 150 years. Building on this legacy of safety leadership, ABS Group provides risk management and asset reliability solutions to a broad range of global industries based in the Americas.
ABS Quality Evaluations (ABS QE), the management systems certification subsidiary of ABS Group, became the first audit provider accredited by the Center for Offshore Safety (COS) to conduct safety and environmental systems (SEMS) audits for assets operating in the Gulf of Mexico. As an accredited audit provider, ABS QE led the charge in promoting and protecting the environment in deepwater activities by collaborating with the COS to develop audit protocols and criteria for auditor qualification. ABS QE also became the first global certification body accredited in 2015 by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board to certify organizations to the new Asset Management Standard, ISO 55001:2014, which addresses requirements for the establishment, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of an asset management system.
For over 20 years, our Government Division based in Arlington, Virginia, has provided critical support services to key government agencies, with core capabilities in ports and maritime, homeland security, offshore operations and risk management. We have provided multiyear support to the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the DHS' Transportation Security Administration and Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, other U.S. port and municipal water authorities, and various government ministries and international regulatory bodies in Latin America.
