Risk Advisory: Safety and Preparedness for Energy and Nuclear Facilities
With winter heating bills expected to increase across the nation, energy facilities' preparedness and resilience have never been more important.
Both the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) require that regulated facilities perform exercises under DOE Order 151.1D and 10 CFR 50 respectively.
For commercial nuclear facilities, the NRC regulates on-site activities, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) regulates off-site response – these requirements are contained in NUREG-0654/FEMA-REP-1, Criteria for Preparation and Evaluation of Radiological Emergency Response Plans and Preparedness in Support of Nuclear Power Plants.
ABS Group has decades of experience with the design, development, conduct and evaluation of exercises under both the DOE and the NRC/FEMA programs. This experience includes the development of plans, procedures, hazard analyses and threat/hazard risk assessments for facilities throughout the United States. ABS Group is a recognized leader in the exercise development field for both DOE and NRC/FEMA-regulated facilities.
